Many of you know that November is my least favorite month. Damp. Cold. Gray. But now that I'm mostly healed from a concussion suffered in February, I feel as if I've been given my life back. I see so many things around me to enjoy. Thought I'd share a few with you. (Thank you, Cherie, for the simile in the second line.) May this Thanksgiving find you grateful, too.
The pleasures of November:
Oak leaves with the gloss of cordovan leather
Gold coins of aspen under our feet
White silk of milkweed aloft in the wind
Turkey tail fungus and lichen swaddling a stump
Red berries in clusters above the swamp
Tamarack trees shining a late golden light
Black branches coated with the first snow
Your face like a lamp in the window.
